Midlife Crisis is a running community and events platform designed for individuals rediscovering their passion for movement. We organise monthly races, including road and trail runs, multi-terrain events, and night runs. In the near future, we plan to host running retreats. Our focus is on community, connection, and resilience—it’s not about being the fastest, but about challenging yourself and enjoying the journey.
Who can join your events?
Anyone aged 18 and over. Whether you’re in your late 20s picking running back up, in your 40s discovering endurance sports for the first time, or a competitive athlete making a comeback, you’ll find a place here.
How do I register for an event?
Simply visit the Events page, use the filters to find your preferred event, then click the registration link. You’ll be guided through the easy sign-up process.
Do I need to be an experienced runner?
Not at all. Our events are designed for individuals of all abilities and skill levels. Some members run for personal bests, while others focus on the experience, fitness, or social side. You set your own pace.
Can I come by myself?
Yes—many of our members join on their own. Our community is about connection, so you’ll quickly meet like-minded people who share your journey.
What makes Midlife Crisis different?
We’re not just about running laps or chasing medals. We focus on community, wellness, and meaningful challenges. Every event is an opportunity to connect with others, push yourself in the right direction, and discover what’s possible at midlife.
Can I bring friends or spectators?
Our events are open to all adults looking to embrace midlife with energy and community. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced runner, there’s a place for you here.
What’s included in your retreats?
Our retreats are currently in development, but they’ll include a mix of running sessions (road, trail, and multi-terrain), recovery activities, community time, and the potential to add wellness elements like mindfulness and nutrition in the future.
How often do you host events?
⮞ Year 1: Monthly races
⮞ Year 2: Multiple races each month, plus two retreats per year
Can I cancel or transfer my event registration?
Please refer to the event’s specific terms and conditions. Generally, cancellations are accepted up to a specified date, subject to possible fees. Transfers may be allowed—contact us for details.
What safety measures are in place during events?
We prioritise participant safety with well-marked routes, experienced staff, and clear communication. In the event of an emergency, trained personnel are on site.
Do you partner with local businesses?
Not yet, but we’re open to collaborations with gyms, cafes, wellness providers, and local hotels as we expand our operations.
Who are the organisers?
Nathan Groves and James Agar founded Midlife Crisis. Both have strong sporting backgrounds and personal journeys of rediscovering fitness. Nathan, an experienced marathoner and Ironman, serves as the spokesperson and brings valuable experience in event creation and management.
What kind of community are you building?
A supportive space for:
⮞ People rediscovering sports after years away
⮞ Adults seeking a healthy challenge in midlife
⮞ Fitness enthusiasts who value community, not just competition
Do you offer ongoing support beyond events?
We’re planning newsletters, online communities, and training resources in the future—but for now, we’re focused on building impactful events and retreats.
What if I’m new to running or physical activity?
No worries! Many of our events cater to all fitness levels. We encourage everyone to participate at their own pace and enjoy the experience.
How can I contact Midlife Crisis if I have more questions?
